Solid wood floors are your more traditional flooring option and require spot sanding and coating. However, engineered floors are usually pre-finished and ready to install. Both options allow you to sand and refinish during their lifetime, however, unlike solid floors, which are limited in width, engineered floors can also be sold in wide planks.

The cross-lamination of engineered floors is meant to work together to minimise the risk of expansion and contraction when exposed to humidity and temperature changes. Unlike traditional hardwood floors that can survive these conditions.
It is important to note that there is a clear distinction between laminate and engineered floors. Laminate floors consist of fibreboard covered with imitation wood grain paper. Engineered floors are solid wood laminate floors on plywood or hardwood.
