What Are The Cutting Tools For Spc Vinyl Plank?

Using the right tools is essential for achieving clean and precise cuts on SPC vinyl plank. Two popular options for cutting panels are a circular saw and a jigsaw.

Fine-toothed hand saw
Hand saws give control, but sawing too fast can cause an uneven edge, so cut slowly and steadily to get the best result. Practice on some scrap panels or wood to ensure you can use the saw effectively before making a final cut.

Tenon saw
Tenon hand saws provide a very stable cut. Cut slowly to get a clean, neat line for your panels. If you don't have power tools, a tenon saw is an easy-to-use and affordable choice for anyone new to DIY.

Jigsaw
Trimming your SPC vinyl plank with a jigsaw is another option if you don't have a fine-toothed or tenon handsaw. Use a jigsaw blade with fine teeth and practise some cuts to get your speed and pressure right. A jigsaw with a fine toothed blade is the best way to cut out electrical sockets as well.

Mitre saw
A mitre saw can trim several SPC vinyl planks simultaneously with precision and power. If you're using a mitre saw, use a blade that's designed for fine cuts. Standard blades that come with a mitre saw are often too coarse for trimming wood panels and they leave rough edges.

Circular saw
A circular saw is different to a mitre saw because it is portable and handheld, rather than stationary. Because of this, it gives you good control over movement. A circular saw works like a guillotine, making it easy to trim SPC vinyl plank quickly and accurately. For greater precision and speed, use a track with your circular saw. Like for a mitre saw, make sure you use a blade for fine cuts.

SPC vinyl plank is increasingly being trusted and chosen by customers for all spaces from families, restaurants, hotels, offices because of its high aesthetics, diverse designs, affordable prices, and especially durability up to 20 years. The average use time of SPC vinyl plank is about 15 years – 20 years, but if it is well maintained, regularly cleaned, and used carefully, the life expectancy will be more than 30 years.

To increase the life of SPC vinyl plank, you need to note some steps in the cleaning and maintenance process as follows:

Vacuum, sweep the house every day
First, to maintain the quality of the SPC vinyl plank and the colorfastness, you need to vacuum or sweep the flooring regularly, which helps to remove impurities such as dirt, stones, sand, and some other items.
These items can scratch the floor when we are not paying attention. We should use a vacuum or sweep the house at least once a day. Vacuum cleaners and brooms are a recommended item for proper floor cleaning.

Use warm water to remove stains and clean the floor
If the SPC vinyl plank has some stains such as food colorants, tea, coffee, etc., we need treating immediately.
You should use warm water to remove these stains and avoid using boiling water to clean the floor. You can use a soft cloth to apply warm water to these stains until they are clean.

Avoid using a dangerous detergent
SPC vinyl plank can be sensitive to a number of chemical agents. Therefore, you should avoid using harsh cleaning products or detergents because they can degrade the quality of the floor. Some chemical agents can wear down the floor surface, even if it is too strong which will reduce the life of the floorboard. As a result, you may lose the benefits of SPC vinyl plank such as anti-scratch, anti-slip, etc.

Some other notes
Avoid installing to outdoor and areas exposed to sunlight, which discolor in long-term use.
Use carpet in front of the house to prevent dust from entering the house.
Avoid sharp objects as knives falling from above or heavy like carbinets, ect., that put on for a long time, and take care placing small felt pads under them.
Do not drag and move heavy objects back and forth as they may scratch the floorboards. You should up things when moving to avoid landing on the floor.
With regular cleaning and proper use, SPC vinyl plank will be like new and last up to 30 years.

Is It Always Necessary to Lay Film Under the SPC Vinyl Plank?

No, in some cases you can refuse it. The film is needed only for concrete bases (when the substrate does not provide waterproofing properties) or self-leveling floors. If you are absolutely sure that the screed is dry, then you can do without a film under the SPC vinyl plank.

In such cases, it is crucial to assess the moisture levels of the subfloor accurately before deciding whether to use a film under the SPC vinyl plank. A simple moisture test can help determine if the conditions are suitable for installation without a moisture barrier. However, if there is any doubt about the moisture content or if the subfloor is concrete or prone to dampness, it is advisable to err on the side of caution and use the waterproofing film.

Proper installation of SPC vinyl plank flooring not only enhances the aesthetics of a room but also ensures its longevity. By following the recommended guidelines, including the use of a moisture barrier when necessary, you can enjoy a beautiful, durable SPC vinyl plank that withstands the test of time.

Why Is Spc Vinyl Plank So Resistant?

SPC vinyl plank is considered the "next generation" in vinyl flooring. In addition, unlike wood and laminate floors, being much more versatile and suitable for all types of spaces, including wet rooms in the house such as bathrooms and kitchens. As we have already mentioned, the key lies in its manufacture, which combines a mixture of PVC and stone powder. This results in a particularly resistant flooring, which is more stable to temperature changes and less demanding in terms of floor planimetry than other floorings.

The resistance of SPC vinyl plank is also due to the arrangement of the materials. Vinyl floors have several layers, with a central core composed of a high-density wood fiberboard and an overlay that offers resistance to abrasion and wear.

In the case of SPC vinyl plank, we have extra layers of material. This means that we have at least four layers: a wear layer with PU protection, a vinyl (decorative film), the reinforced rigid core and a foam layer.

What Is the Difference Between SPC Vinyl Plank and PVC Vinyl Flooring?

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Core: Flexible and soft, offering comfort.

WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) Core: A middle ground between PVC and SPC in rigidity.

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) Core: Rigid, made of limestone and stabilisers, provides superior strength.

What Are the Major Differences Between WPC and SPC Vinyl Plank?

豪华刚性核心SPC地板

Since both WPC and SPC vinyl plank products are water-resistant and incredibly durable, you can rest assured that your floors can handle high traffic, incidental scratches, and the fast, fun pace of everyday life!

The essential difference between WPC and SPC vinyl plank comes down to the density of that rigid core layer. Simply put, stone is denser than wood. Which of these materials will offer more give? Definitely wood. Which of these materials will resist heavy impact more? Stone without a doubt.

How to Choose a Right SPC Vinyl Plank?

Ratio between Stone and PVC
As its name implies, SPC vinyl plank is combination of stone powder and polymer, maximum is stone which makes rigid core of product. The higher the stone powder content, the lower the cost, while the harder the floor which cause board broken easily and too heavy to carry.
On the other hand, it's not good either for too higher polymer content, because PVC can easily expand in hot temperature environment, in addition, higher content polymer increases cost too.
The appropriate ratio for stone and PVC is around 65:35. Such ratio is able to find a balance between stability and budget.

Environmental
Many people pay more attention to floor itself, but ignore the color film on surface. In fact, quality of ink (origin of pattern) finally decides the SPC vinyl plank is environmental or not: you can ask checking vender's testing report on heavy metals, which helps to judge if the vender is working with quality color film supplier.

Core Color
We suggest client choosing 100% virgin core as it's more stable. Pls note that the color of core can not be regarded as rule judging whether it's virgin or not (at present there are two types core in the market: grey and white, subject to workmanship). Some mills might produce SPC vinyl planking with recycled core material, it's cheaper than virgin core while bad stability in actual using. The floor made of recycled material mostly failed to reach Standard of heavy metal, ortho-benzene plasticizers etc. That's key.
